MAINTAIN YOUR AUTONOMY AND INDEPENDENCE IN YOUR HOME ENVIRONMENT

The occupational therapist of SPCV intervenes so that our clientele continues to independently and optimally practice the following activities 

  • Activities of daily living (washing, eating, dressing, transfer, and mobility)
  • Domestic activities (cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping, finance, communication, and transportation).

The occupational therapy services of SPCV are conceived and beneficial for :

  • An adult whose psychomotor or psychological abilities and daily living activities have been affected by an accident, trauma or illness
  • A senior with a loss of autonomy who wishes to continue living alone in the comfort of his or her home
  • A person with a neuropsychological disorder (ALS, MS)
  • Children with developmental delay or other disorders

Évaluation

  • Musculoskeletal limitations (back problems, hand problems, etc.), in the psychosocial and environmental areas,
  • Motor, sensory, psychological and cognitive abilities,
  • The impact of these limitations on daily life,
  • Environment (bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, workstation, etc.)
  • Ability to drive
  • Needs of a handicap or person with disabilities parking sticker
  • To fill out an adapted transportation form or an application for a handicap or person with disabilities parking sticker.

Interventions

  • The SPCV Occupational Therapist offers care and interventions for prevention, rehabilitation, and psychosocial rehabilitation to compensate for limitations and functional loss.
  • Counseling and treatment for musculoskeletal problems (back problems, hand problems, etc.), and to enhance motor skills
  • Counseling to improve adaptation to the environment (bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, etc.) for those limited by aging, trauma or accident,
  • Adaptation to the environment for a person with a neuromuscular disorder (ALS, MS, etc.),
  • Rehabilitation after a stroke or brain surgery,
  • Technical assistance tips for mobility at home.
